The Phi Beta Lambda Chapter at the Boone Campus was started in the late summer of 1968 under the direction of Mrs. Glenny Tays. Phi Beta Lambda has a number of activities members participate in each year, which can include: fundraising, chapter Christmas party, adopting a family for Christmas, PBL Week activities, field trips, Secretaries' Day activities, graduation luncheon, Adopt-A-Highway, attendance at conferences held throughout the year, and several other service projects.
Interested in becoming a leader in business? Then this is the organization for you. Phi Beta Lambda is a business organization that is organized and run by the student members. Members get to attend conferences during the year to learn business skills necessary to become leaders in the business world. There is also a competition element to the spring conference where students compete against students from all over the state of Iowa. If you earn one of the top two spots in your category, you will have the privilege of attending the National Leadership Conference over the summer. Last but not least is the fun and socialization part of being a member of the group. There are social events at each of the conferences and we have a lot of fun traveling around the state and the country together!
This organization is a perfect fit for students from all majors...NOT just business. The networking opportunities and workshops are applicable to people in all fields of business. The competition categories are many ranging from Accounting to Public Speaking to Computers to Business.
